Most agents have experienced at one time or another losing a potential client that they have worked with for years. It’s not a good feeling but it’s the world of real estate. The client finds a house they really like and the listing agent that they just met offers to reduce their commission if he or she can also handle the sale of their current home. What the client fails to realize is with the listing agent representing both sides they could potentially give up 1 to 3 percent in negotiating the sale price and any possible repairs. The agent who had been working with them could have offered them similar discounts if given the opportunity and also provide them with a sense of security and reliability. Moral of the story… You can have your cake and eat it too!
